Car Buyers Guide: Are You Ready to Finance and Own a Car?

car buyers guide australiaIn a previous article, we discussed 5 things to consider before applying for a car loan. Now we’ll go deeper into the topic.

Owning a car involves more than just the ability to pay for it and drive it around. Having a car also means owning the responsibilities involved in driving it in public. Before you go out and buy the car that you love, read on first and check whether you truly are ready to be a car owner.

More than anything else, your attitude and emotions dictate your readiness to go out and drive.

What’s your attitude towards rules and authority?

There are many rules on the road and you are sure to experience getting pulled over by authorities. If you are one of the many who thinks that rules don’t apply to them and like to constantly break them, it may be better hold off in buying a car. If you’re a rule breaker, it is likely that you don’t handle authorities well.

How are your manners toward other people/drivers?

How you treat people face-to-face is probably how you’ll treat people on the road… or even worse since a car can be considered a coat-of-armour or shield. You may notice many ill-mannered drivers darting around without regard of their own safety and of others.

Do you have anger management issues?

You will be faced with a lot of challenges on the road. I don’t mean challenging terrains but circumstances such as someone cutting you off, someone who’s purposely blocking your way, someone speeding toward your parking spot, someone suddenly speeding up when you’re trying to merge in traffic and a whole lot more.

Getting mad during these situations is a natural reaction but how you manage your anger makes a lot of difference. If you feel that shouting at the other driver, getting even, or giving him a bad sign is the best thing to do, then you’re not ready for that journey.

How are you with peer pressure?

Car Buyers GuideThis is very important especially if you’re a first time car buyer, a teenager, or you’ll be one of the few in your circle who has a car. We all have friends who like to persuade us into doing something silly like driving off the grid, seeing how fast the car can go, running a red light, and other things that will surely get you in trouble.

Driving is a very big responsibility and, believe it or not, many drivers out there should not even be driving. You need to be emotionally ready to get behind the wheel. It’s a jungle out there and you’ll be eaten alive if you’re not strong enough.

If you answered positively on all the questions above, get yourself pre-approved for a car loan......you are ready !
